Blood Pressure Monitors - Valuable Tips For Accurate Readings

Do you know the correct ways to use your blood pressure monitor at home to obtain consistently accurate readings?

Most pharmacies and medical supply stores sites have home blood pressure monitors in two model types, manual or digital. All monitors have the same basic components, an inflatable cuff or strap, a gauge for readouts and sometimes a stethoscope, depending on the model.

The cuff consists of an inner layer made of rubber that fills with air and squeezes your arm. This cuff's outer layer is generally made of nylon and has a fastener to hold it in place. The gauges on monitors are either digital or aneroid. The aneroid monitors have a gauge with a dial on it that points at a number related to your blood pressure.

A manual blood pressure monitor consists of a stethoscope and an inflatable arm cuff connected by a rubber tube to a gauge that records the pressure. To use these cuff, you inflate the cuff that goes around your arm by pumping a bulb at one end of the tube. You listen for certain benchmark arterial blood sounds your blood makes as it flows through the brachial artery in the crook of your elbow and count your own heart rate.

However, without proper training, it is difficult to interpret those sounds. Digital blood pressure cuffs usually have a built-in sensor that records the information for you.

A digital monitor consists of a cuff and a gauge that records the pressure. These devices automatically calculate heart rate and measure your blood pressure. Some even give you an error message if you are not wearing the cuff properly. Digital monitors also deflate automatically. Although you can get a digital cuff for your finger or wrist, the one that fits on the upper arm is slightly more accurate

No matter what type of home blood pressure monitor you choose, proper use requires some practice and training. Take the device to your doctor or nurse or find a class at your local medical facility and learn how to use the monitor accurately and keep it calibrated.

Here are some tips for using a monitor:

Have your doctor or nurse observe how you use the device so that he or she can see if you are doing it properly

Take your blood pressure at consistent times, such as in the morning and in the evening.

Always use the same arm whenever you take your blood pressure. Note that many digital monitors are meant for use only on the left arm.

Don't measure your blood pressure immediately after you wake in the morning. Wait an hour or so. If you exercise after waking, take your blood pressure before exercising.

Avoid food, caffeine, tobacco and alcohol for thirty minutes before taking a measurement.

Go to the restroom first. A full bladder can increase blood pressure slightly.

Sit quietly for three to five minutes before a measurement.

Sit in a comfortable position with legs and ankles uncrossed and your back supported.

Rest your arm, raised to the level of your heart, on a table, desk or chair arm.

Don't talk while taking your blood pressure.

Place the cuff on bare skin, not over clothing.

Take a repeat reading two to three minutes after the first one to check accuracy.

If you have a manual monitor, log blood pressure readings or heart rates in a log book.

Make sure that you take the monitor to be calibrated annually.

Blood pressure varies throughout the day and is often a little higher in the morning. Contact your doctor if you have any unusual or persistent increases in your pressure. If you experience symptoms such as severe headache, chest pain, numbness or tingling in the face or limbs seek emergency medical treatment immediately.

If your blood pressure is under control, you may need only check it at home a few times a month but remember that home monitoring is not a substitute for visits to your doctor.

Where Discount Blinds Are Found

Are you looking for window blinds? Of course, window blinds are not expensive compared to designed curtains you can find in the market. Many people prefer using window blinds other than window curtains. Aside from the fact that blinds are cheaper compared to window curtains, it also gives sun protection that a conventional curtain fails to offer.

But no matter how cheap these windows are but if your looking for heaps like for example you have a newly built office and you need bunches of window blinds of course, you need to find discount blinds to slash your expenses.

Now, for example, you have chosen the store where you are going to get your blinds, are you thinking about getting loads and loads of discount upon your purchase? Do you look for any chance to get discounts upon buying those? Most of the people dont think about it but, with the type of living present in the world today, buyers like you must always find a chance to get discounts in everything you spend your money with.

Before you can browse the online shop in the World Wide Web, make sure to check out the nearest store in your area. You can choose the best design and excellent quality in front of you. Of course, a high quality and best brands need not be expensive. Chose the one which can give you the same use but with discounts. Usually, discounts are given during Christmas and during rainy day seasons. This is because you do not need window blinds by this time. So go out and browse the nearest store in your area.

If you are looking for heaps of discount blinds, there is no other shop where you can always find huge amount of discounts other than wholesale shops. Try visiting one of the wholesale shops in your area which sells discount blinds. Of course, if you need many, you will need to have the highest discount you can have. The more you purchase the greater amount of discount you can get. So, the idea of buying solo is not practical this time.

Look for new stores in your area. The fact that they are starting to build name in the industry will make them start with prices lower than the most famous stores. You can also try visiting them and choose which discount blinds suits your need.

Never focus much on the discount you can get. The quality of the discount blind you will purchase must be excellent enough not to make you buy blinds over and over again. Quality should always come first.

The Northern Lights in Alaska

Many people who have never been to Alaska have never experienced a display as powerful as the northern lights. Aurora borealis is the scientific name for this phenomenon. You may not even exactly understand what they look like, what causes them to happen or when the best time of year to view them in Alaska is. The point of this article is to help shed some light on these questions and help better educate visitors to Alaska so that they may enjoy the amazing spectacle that is commonly know as the northern lights.

What causes the northern lights?

Without getting too scientific there are several factors that come into play when discussing what causes the northern lights. When the sun experiences large explosions or flares there are large quantities or solar particles thrown into space. These particles form plasma clouds that usually take between two to three days to reach our earth.

When the plasma clouds near the earth they are captured by the earths magnetic field and guided towards the earths two magnetic poles, the North Pole and the South Pole. As they travel closer to earth towards the two poles the plasma clouds are stopped by the earths atmosphere. The atmosphere helps protects us from these deadly particles. When the solar particles are stopped by the atmosphere this collision creates an energy between the atmospheric gas particles and the solar particles. The energy is released in the form of a photon or a light particle.

Millions of these light particles being released into our atmosphere at one time cause the northern lights. This helps explain why they appear to dance across the sky as they intensify or subside.

What do the northern lights look like in Alaska?

In Alaska the closer you get to the North Pole the better of display you can see. Above the Arctic Circle there are amazing displays. However, living in Anchorage I have still seen many impressive displays of green and red lights in the night sky.

The northern lights seem to shimmer and dance across the sky as they are displayed. The usual color is green but more intense displays will have red or purple in them. They almost appear as a ghostly cloud of light that rapidly moves, intensifies and subside during the display. Northern lights displays in Alaska can continue for several hours.

What is the best time of year to view the northern lights in Alaska?

The winter months, October through March, are the best time frame to view the northern lights in Alaska simply due to the fact you will have some darkness. In the summer months it can stay light for nearly 24 hours. You must have darkness to witness this phenomenon happening. However, you should expect cold weather during this time period and be sure to bring clothes accordingly if you plan to stand outside and watch the northern lights.

Viewing the northern lights is an experience everyone should have at least once in their life. This truly amazing sight is almost mystical and hard to believe the first time you see it. In my opinion there is no better place than Alaska to witness the northern lights.

Ryan Tollefsen has compiled a comprehensive Alaska Travel Guide and Northern Lights Photo Gallery which he credits to his many years in Alaska. Learn everything you need to know and expect from your Alaska vacation before you begin your travel.Phillida Blog31341

Deer Velvet Antler: A Rediscovered Natural Health Dietary Supplement For Our Time

INTRODUCTION

This article introduces deer velvet antler, its origins and use, but more importantly velvet's beneficial clinical effects. The report combines traditional knowledge with modern science and describes velvet's use in a way that today's consumers can make informed decisions on the benefits of velvet for them.

HISTORICAL

The Chinese has used velvet antler for over 2000 years for its powerful health promoting properties. The first documented evidence of the use of deer antler velvet in China, as a health tonic has been dated back 168BC. Traditional Asian usage has been for the promotion of well being and prevention of illness.

WHAT IS DEER VELVET ANTLER?

Velvet antler is the growing stage of the horns borne on the heads of male members of the deer family. They are called velvet antlers during the phase of rapid growth and development because of the velvet-like covering of skin.

Velvet antler is living tissue that grows at a very fast rate of up to 2cm/day in some species. This means that cartilage, bone, and support tissues such as nerves, blood vessels and hair follicles must grow at this phenomenal pace. Velvet antler is the only mammalian organ that regenerates like this. This may be the reason for its powerful health benefits.

A RENEWABLE RESOURCE

Deer velvet antler is unique in that it grows each spring is cast in the late winter and is replaced the following spring by the same natural process. So velvet antler is not only a product unique in the animal kingdom but it can be considered as a renewable resource.

VELVET IN THE NEW AGE

From the growing antlers of deer comes a natural product with the potency and flexibility to safely benefit a great many people throughout the world. Although velvet antler's extraordinary properties were originally recognised in Asia, particularly China, its relevance to the lifestyle needs of the 21st century are becoming apparent. These needs transcend the barriers that separate Eastern from Western medicine. Perhaps it is better to use the words 'lifestyle choices' rather than 'lifestyles needs'. 'Choices' implies a level of individual responsibility to conduct life in a manner that is self-directed. Lifestyle choice carries the further meaning of expressing individual preference on how to maintain and advance quality of life. Velvet antler can impact at several levels of quality of life. Research evidence supports treatment, restorative and protective roles. In addition, consumption of velvet antler can not only provide an immediate benefit, but also amplify and enhance long-term benefits.

Velvet antler is the health-promoting tonic that is right for our times.

It is easy to become confused by the many purported - and substantiated - benefits of taking velvet antler. It seems too good to be true, in Westerners eyes that a single product could benefit in so many different ways. It may be useful to simplify the many benefits and state what velvet doesn't appear to do. We have no evidence of anti-bacterial, anti-viral or anti-fungal activities of velvet. Velvet cannot 'cure' by destroying active pathogens.

The actions of velvet are consistent with:

restoration of normal body processes,
strengthening of the body, possibly leading to mental and physical performance increases, and
protection of the body.

In Asia these functions are considered as 'tonics', but tonic is not an easy word to define in English and hence may have limited value. The benefits of velvet do not overlap with Western medicine but in many respects can be thought of as complementary. A good example is the use of velvet antler extract to mitigate the damaging side effects of anti-cancer drugs, while at the same time helping their effectiveness.

Product safety is another key issue for our times. Velvet antler has been consumed for at least 2000 years and no general toxicity or negative side effects are known. The fact that velvet has been used safely by young and old male and female alike for some 2000 years is evidence that velvet is a relatively safe preparation.

This is important because people conscious of their quality of life need this information to weigh up costs and benefits.

Velvet antler is a win-win product; safe to take yet known to be effective. It is a product in transition from an Asian medicine enshrouded in mystery to a functional supplement of benefit to East and West alike. Exciting possibilities for this product can eagerly be awaited - the current applications are but a glimmer of the future of velvet antler.

TRADITIONAL USE

The benefits of velvet that we are rediscovering were well known to the Chinese. It is unlikely that in even earlier times the shaman cultures of North Asia were familiar with medicinal plants and animals. So although the concept of medicinal animals may seem odd, given that we accept medicinal plants, historically medicinal animals have held an important place. In Europe, for example, bee venom was used as a treatment for arthritis until relatively recently. The development of velvet antler as a traditional medium has been greatest in China and there are many references in Chinese literature to the benefits of velvet.

The functions of velvet antler are many but all fall into the major categories of:

general body strengthening,
healing,
promoting blood cell growth
improving the immune system, and
Influences cardiovascular function.

Recent research in China, Russian and New Zealand and Canada has added to this list and has provided modern research support for the traditional knowledge.

Traditional Chinese Medicine, while having curative functions, focuses on promoting wellness as a medical goal in itself. In both Chinese and Korean medicine velvet antler can be regarded as an effective promoter of health. This may be because the substances that promote rapid growth and regeneration of velvet are responsible for the tonic actions. Western medicine lacks a formal understanding of a tonic, but it is important for a potential user of velvet antler to accept the context in which to seek the benefits of velvet. In keeping with Chinese and Korean use of velvet these are overall strengthening of the body, healing and improving tissue function. View velvet antler as a powerful restorer and strengthener not a curative in itself. The mechanisms for this true tonic activity are as yet only poorly understood. In the future this list of benefits may lengthen.

Looking For Love? Online Dating Can Increase Your Chances Of Finding Love

With its growing popularity and burgeoning number of users, online dating offers a fun and legitimate way to meet people. There are many sincere and genuine people, who are interested in developing bona fide relationships, now turning to the internet for potential love matches.

The old stereotype of internet dating being used by the 'socially awkward' or perverts has been superseded. Sure, some such characters do frequent online dating sites but these people also frequent bars, gyms, dance classes, community groups, workplaces, church congregations, park toilets and the like! The reality is that online dating sites now attract a wide range of people. People of all ages, from all walks of life and of all persuasions are now logging online to pursue love (and its many variations).

By linking you into a singles network much larger than what you could otherwise access, online dating can improve the odds of meeting someone with whom you are compatible. So. the issue is not whether internet dating can help you find love. It can, and for thousands of people it already has. There are, however, a number of issues which make internet dating unique to more traditional ways of meeting people. Being cognisant of these differences can help you be a more streetwise internet dater and improve your chances of success online.

When people communicate in a solely text based environment over a period of time, without having met in person, they often disclose more about themselves than what they would otherwise. In short, they are less inhibited. Such seeming openness can lead to a sense of false familiarity or intimacy. Whatsmore, such confidences are often selective the sender will present the best bits of him or herself. This latter point is common in all early stages of getting to know someone (we all like to put our best foot forward), regardless of place of meeting. The potential pitfall with online communication, however, is that the recipient has less opportunity to check for congruence between what is being reported and the senders behaviour i.e. they do not have visual cues or other non-verbals.

To guard against falling victim to false advertising and/or of misrepresenting oneself online, online dating may best be viewed as a portal to getting to know potential matches. Online communication does not on its own provide a comprehensive way in which to get to know someone. It can, however, facilitate an awareness of, and desire to know more about another person. To truly understand, appreciate and know another person takes time and, for most of us, such knowledge is only established through being in their company, enjoying shared experiences, and through verbal and non-verbal communications.

So, if you are looking for love, online dating offers a highly effective way in which to hook up with other singles but, just remember, the real hooking up takes place offline!

Cash Now - Affiliate Marketing

The apparent availability of wealth draw so many to the Internet, its reminiscent of the days of the California Gold Rush. Not so different from that distant past most get disheartened in their quest of making money online. They believe just about everything they see online. With the plethora of available e-Books claiming to have the secrets of striking it rich, they end up spending much more than necessary. The result is more than often information overload with no clear path of where they are going, except maybe onto the next e-Book.

These individuals just want to know how to make money online and how to do it now. There are of course many ways to make money on the Internet, after all it is the worlds largest market place. You need to devise a plan; one can either sell their own product/services or simply sell someone elses. The vast majority of individuals would fall into the second category. Its called affiliate marketing and once done correctly this is where you can strike gold.

There are literally thousands upon thousands of products available for anyone to promote and make commissions ranging upwards of 75% some even 100% and all you have to do is sign-up for free. As an affiliate you can start making money almost immediately. Theres no inventory to keep, no having to deal with customers and you dont even need your own website. What can be better than that?

This is how it works: first you have to sign up to be an affiliate with the company(s) of you choice for the products you want to promote. You would be given a unique URL for their website which contains your affiliate code. This URL leads back to their sales page where any purchases made by visitors will earn you your commission, either a percentage or a flat fee. Tens of thousands of people earn a living this way and free themselves from their regular jobs.

Promote your products! Potential buyers arent just going to pull your affiliate links out of mid air. Now you have products that you can sell thats only half the battle. The second and most critical is to drive traffic to the site(s) using your affiliate URL.

There are several ways to promote your affiliate links, of which I will briefly mention a few. Paid Ads is really the best form of promoting, using search engine pay-per-click on Google, Yahoo etc. For free traffic you can write a blog and include your affiliate link. Write and submit articles on topics youre comfortable with and include your link in the bio box. You can also have someone write for you, a Ghost Writer. Join forums and put your link in your profile or signature area, so whenever you make a post your link gets out there. If youre looking for financial freedom, look no further than affiliate marketing.

American Express Travel Says Mammoth, California Is Great Fun In Both Summer And Winter

American Express Vacations affirms one of the most popular vacation spots for adventure travelers is Mammoth, California. This year round resort offers travelers a wide variety of activities and entertainment. Mammoth is also surprisingly luxuriousoffering several spas, fine dinning choices and upscale lodging. Mammoth is a great choice for vacationers who wish to experience the rugged beauty of the Californian Sierras and relax in elegant resorts.

Winter in Mammoth

Wintertime is one of the most popular seasons for travelers according to American Express Travel. In fact, Mammoth made its name as a winter resort. The name Mammoth actually refers to the large ski slope, which was so large, it was referred to as Mammoth Slope. Thus, the area retained that name. The near by town is called Mammoth Lakes. The town is little more than a village, with a permanent population at about 500. However, the winter population is often ten times that. Mammoth Lakes actually has more condos than stores or restaurants. These condos can be rented on a weekly basis and range in price. The average price for a weekly condo in the winter is about $2000. Mammoth also offers several luxury resorts, including the Mammoth Inn, which is literally across the street from the most popular ski slope. For more conservative travelers, there are a number of budget inns and motels.

Summer in Mammoth

Despite the booming winter business of skiing, Mammoth is also quite popular in the summer time. There are a number of American Express Travel Deals in the early part of the summer before the crowds come in. Early June is best for weather and availability. Again, there are a number of options for accommodations in the summer, with more availability in the condos. Prices are also marginally less.

The travel attractions during the summer season are different than the winter season. Although there is no snow for the skiing masses, adventure travel enthusiast still flock to this location. From the Mammoth Inn, travelers can purchase bus tickets to be taken to Devils Post Pile National Monument for $7.00 per person. This provides access to a number of scenic areas, including the geological wonder, Devils Post Pile, the gorgeous Rainbow Falls and the peaceful Reds Meadow. The bus stops at ten different locations, and the traveler must hike from where the bus parks to see the sights. The hike to Devils Post Pile is pretty mild, and most people say its not that difficult. The hike to the top of the monument is quite strenuous, and is not recommended for the elderly or children with asthma, however. The hike to Rainbow Falls is also quite strenuous, as is the continuation to the Lower Falls. Make sure to bring at least two 12 ounce bottles if you plan to do more than Devils Post Pile. Reds Meadow is quite breathtaking, but is a longer and strenuous hike, but the view is worth it.

With so much to see and do, it is no surprise that the active traveler is attracted to Mammoth Mountain. American Express Travel offers a number of packages that include some guided hikes and tours, combined with some of the best accommodations in Mammoth Lakes. Find out why active travelers love Mammoth!

The Top 5 Steps to Smarter SAT Prep

The most frequent mistake made by people preparing to take the SATafter not studying enoughis studying in a sloppy, haphazard manner. The more care you take in the early stages of your preparation for the SAT test, the better the end result. Set demanding yet reasonable goals for your SAT experience, then summon the necessary self-discipline to follow through.

1. ASSEMBLING YOUR MATERIALS

An informed approach to SAT preparation begins with checking the College Boards website (http://www.collegeboard.com) for testing dates, locations and registration procedures. After that, you should buy (or borrow from a library or friend) an SAT test prep book. Youll also want to have an appropriate calculator, a notebook, plenty of paper and writing utensils, and a space (or two) conducive to concentrated study.

2. DIAGNOSIS & PRESCRIPTION

Using both your SAT prep book and the materials available at Sat Prep Plan (http://www.satprepplan.com), assess your strengths and weaknesses. Then set your goals (one of which should be a deep familiarity with the SAT tests overall structure, types of questions, and directions), and design a study plan that best fits your situation.

These first two steps should be completed as quickly as possible in order to allow the maximum time for actual SAT preparation.

3. GOING SOLO VS. TEAMING UP

Deciding which resources to use, and in what combination, marks a critical step in your SAT preparation agenda. A number of prominent companies offer comprehensive SAT test prep courses, but they may not fit your budget, schedule, or study needs. In addition to consulting the resources provided at http://www.satprepplan.com, you should consider the value of teaming up with a friend or two (often, having partners in any long-term, strenuous activity keeps everyones momentum going), and/or hiring an SAT tutor.

4. A MATTER OF TIME

Taking into account the SAT test dates you found in Step 1 and your other commitments, map out a weekly study schedule. You might find it helpful to alternate between working on sections of the SAT test, as well as between material thats easier and harder for you. Set periodic deadlines for achieving your goals, but bear in mind that you may need to adjust them. Also note that a smaller number of long study sessions are less helpful than a greater number of shorter ones. Finally, pay special attention to how youll prepare during the week of the SAT test itself.

5. HELP ON A BUDGET

The SAT test is expensive enough. It doesnt take a great deal of time or effort to maximize your SAT preparation dollar. For example, websites like http://www.satprepplan.com offer a variety of resources at no charge. With so many students taking the SAT test each year, it shouldnt be too difficult to locate used (but recent) versions of SAT prep books. You can also make your own flash cards, take several free SAT practice tests, and register to have the College Boards SAT question of the day sent to you via email all at little or no cost.

How To Find Cheap Travel

This article will uncover the market of cheap travel, suggest ways of finding cheap travel and pay attention to the problem issues that may arise in budget travel.

Student travel has come a long way in the past few decades. It is no longer considered a rarity. Gap years, student electives abroad and cheap summer holidays in distant places, have become part of the generally life-enriching experience that is now considered synonymous with the student status. (Frost F et al., 1999)

The current financial climate, with many students having to rely on student loans, parental support, holiday jobs or personal savings for their financial fluidity, largely dictates and limits just what can be achieved in this regard and there are a number of ploys and strategies that are commonly used to make the money go further or, to look at it another way, to allow the same money let the student go further! (Reisinger Y et al., 2004)

We can start by taking an overview of the situation and dividing up the travel costs into those that are necessary to arrive at a destination and those that are necessarily incurred to move around once the student has arrived. Generally speaking, the preferred way to travel is by flying. It is often the quickest way to travel long distances and in these days of competitive pricing strategies, many of the no-frills and budget airlines are offering very cheap flights across mainland Europe. The unwary student should note that the eye-catching prices quoted are invariably exclusive of taxes and fuel surcharges which can add between 30-200 onto the quoted cost (depending on destination and distance).

As a general rule, the cheaper the flight, the greater the sacrifice of both flexibility and conditions. A flight that arrives or leaves in the early hours of the morning, does not supply food, has minimal in-flight entertainment and a strict baggage allowance, is clearly going to cost less than one that has additional amenities. A word of caution also for these flights as there are generally strict terms and conditions, limited changeability and minimal prospect of refund if there's a problem.

Cheap flights are at the other end of the spectrum from cheap holidays. With holidays the greatest savings are made by those who are willing to book at the last minute. With flights, the converse is true. As flights get booked up, the prices tend to rise. (Bernstein J et al., 1999)

Two of the most commonly used mechanisms for obtaining cheap flights are flight-brokers and screen scrapers. The flight brokers make their money by selling you a flight that gives them a commission. There is therefore a balance between the amount of commission that an airline pays them to fill their seats and the requirements of the student. The screen scrapers are web-based tools such as TravelSupermarket, TravelJungle, and SkyScanner. You effectively enter your requirements and these sites send the details to dozens of airlines (and some brokers) and display their findings with the cheapest first. (Sheth A et al., 2002)

There are variations on this process with sites like Expedia and Travelocity specialising in long-haul flights and Expedia and Opodo allowing flights to one airport then leaving from another. Flights Direct will specifically examine the charter market for occasional bargains.

If you intend to fly on certain dates a few months in the future, it is well worth signing up to the e-mail lists of the appropriate airlines. They will send out details of short-term sales so that you can snap them up at the right moment if they come up. British Airways, Opodo, American Airlines and KLM are particularly good for this type of approach.

Once at the destination, the student has to consider the best way of travelling around. Rather like the airlines, one pays for convenience, accessibility and comfort the cheapest forms of travel generally being the slowest and least luxurious. It is clearly impossible to generalise throughout the world, but hitch-hiking, which might have once been considered the cheapest way to travel, has a distinct risk element of personal safety and clearly is inappropriate for the lone female traveller. Many of the commercially available insurance policies specifically forbid such practices. (Cullinane S, 2002)

Public transport is often the most reliable of the cheaper options. Either the local busses, the long-haul coaches or the train services being generally safe and reliable. Many of the more developed countries offer student travel cards (or a variant) to reduce the costs of repeated journeys and some bus companies (Australia travel being a notable example) will sell an open ticket between two specified destinations which can be used with different segments of the journey being undertaken over a period of several weeks.

There are other considerations relating to travel such as how best to deal with money. The time-honoured way of carrying travellers cheques may no longer be popular, with many students electing for the convenience of "plastic" money and credit cards. One should note that Mastercard will generally convert foreign exchange transactions at about the best commercially available rate, but will then add about 2.75%. This does vary between cards and therefore should be individually checked. Overseas cash withdrawals are also usually subject to a 2% additional fee (minimum charge 2) on both credit and debit cards. In addition to all of this, some credit card companies will also add a transaction fee on foreign transactions. (Halifax is currently the worst, levying 1.75 on each transaction.) For the student, the Post Office or Nationwide credit cards appear to be the best option. They have no levy on overseas purchases but they do charge interest on all cash withdrawals.

As with all travel, insurance is not essential, but only the most foolhardy student would travel without it. The annual multi-trip insurance is seldom competitive except for the USA where it may work out cheaper than individual trip cover (mainly because of the medical expense element applicable to the USA). Most will require you to be staying at pre-booked venues which may not be appropriate for the student traveller.

Decide what cover you need, what excess you need (the first part of each claim that you have to pay yourself) and then shop around. The classic insurance selling line is "why not upgrade to our platinum policy, with 30 million worth of medical cover etc." In real terms, the chances of you ever needing more than 2 million of medical cover or repatriation to the UK is virtually negligible and therefore perhaps best avoided. A good plan is to include a personal liability cover of 1 million and also cover for "cancellations and curtailments" together with cover for lost or delayed baggage and cash.

You should note that Europe-only cover is cheaper than further afield and therefore only select wider cover if it is appropriate. Lastly, ensure that the company you are dealing with is covered by FSA regulated underwriters.

Bear in mind also that the new EHIC card (free from www.dh.gov.uk/travellers) will provide free or discounted health care costs in the EU, but does not cover any repatriation costs.

Useful sites for comparisons and costs are Travel-Insurance-Web for Europe-only travel and Insure For for world-wide travel.

Become Car Owner by Availing Car Loan

Car loans provides the financial support to all those who are willing to buy a new car or second hand car. In present times, a car loan is also considered as the most common loan in the finance industry as car is becoming a necessity either for our business or personal purpose.

Now lets come to the core of any car loan agreement that is, its interest rate. Interest rate varies from person to person and they are determined on the financial situation of the person, as person with strong financial background is always being offered with competitive rates. But there are some common factors which affect the interest rate being offered to either to the person with strong or weak financial status. These are:

Amount financed
Repayment period
Base rate
Prevailing market etc.

It is also seen that the lender generally offers two types of interest rates which are fixed rate of interest and floating rate of interest. In fixed rate of interest, the rate is fixed till entire term of loan. And in variable interest rate, the rate fluctuates with the change in the base rate and market forces.

When the person, availing Car Loan he is obliged to pay a monthly payment which is known as equated monthly instalment (EMI). EMI basically includes two components or payments that are the principal amount and the interest rate. EMI of a person is determined on the basis of the loan term he chooses. In other words, if he chooses long repayment period, in such case his EMI will be less as compared to the EMI in the shorter period. Various lenders provide loan calculator which is basically designed to determine the EMI of the person.

Commonly, the car loan is secured against the car itself but he also has an option to place his asset or any thing of value as collateral. Collateral placed helps in availing loan on competitive prices. And if the borrower misses any payment, in such case, the lender can either sell his asset or can even take back the car. Missing any payment not only results in repossession but also put a tag of bad credit in his credit report. And this tag further emerges as hurdle while performing in the financial market.

Finally, when the person goes in the financial market to avail car loan, he must always try to adopt transparency in providing any sort of information to the lender.

Travel To Machu Picchu

One of the most visited sites in the world today by travelers is Machu Picchu. It is located in Cuzco, Peru in the high Andes Mountains. It is approximately 724 miles away from Lima, the Peruvian capital. A typical trip by land on a bus takes about 20 hours. One could also take a flight and arrive there in a heartbeat of one hour. The starting point usually begins in Lima.

The ruins sit surrounded by the Andes Mountains at about 11,024 feet above sea level. The name Machu Picchu literally means old peak, translated from the Quechua language. It was discovered by Hiram Bingham on July 24, 1911 while he was in charge of a Yale University expedition. It was in this landscape that the Incas built Machu Picchu at the end of the fourteenth century.

The climate is mild, warm and damp. It has a year round average temperature of 55F during the day. There are typically two seasons, a rainy season which lasts from November to March and dry season, which lasts from April to October. Most travelers prefer to travel to the site during the dry season.

Personal Travel Experience

I had the pleasure of visiting Machu Picchu 22 years ago around this time when I was a small child. I was accompanied by my mother. The scenery was beautiful and breathtaking. We took a train from the city of Cuzco and it took us just a few hours to get to Machu Picchu. Then we had to take a small bus up the trail all the way to the top. Nowadays, there are two ways to connect from Cuzco. One is a Tourist Train, which only operates in the high season. The trip takes four hours and returns in the evening. Then there is also the Autovagon, a tourist service that takes three hours to get to the site with an evening return trip as well. Both leave in the early morning hours.

We highly recommend you to put Machu Picchu, Peru as one of your top travel destinations to visit in the near future. The experience will be unforgettable.

UPDATE: On July 7th in Lisbon, Portugal, Machu Picchu was voted in as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.

Weddings Rings Shapes and Insurance

What you need to know for wedding rings.

Diamonds: A Guide to Diamond Shapes

EMERALD - This rectangular shaped stone is a very elegant and sophisticated look for a bride.

HEART - A truly romantic statement on any brides finger this stones shape resembles a heart.

MARQUISE - Beautiful as a solitaire, this diamond too is elongated diamond but has pointed ends.

OVAL - This perfectly symmetrical elongated shaped diamond adds length to fingers and is very popular among three stone rings.

PEAR - This shape is derived from combining both the marquise and the oval shaped diamonds. One end is beautifully rounded while the other leads to a point.

PRINCESS - This is a perfectly square shaped stone which has become increasingly more popular among brides today.

ROUND - A circular shaped diamond which has always been a popular and traditional choice for many brides.

TRILLIANT - Shaped like a triangle, the trilliant may have rounded corners or pointed ones and provides a perfect accent to a princess or round shaped diamond.

Appraisals and Insurance

Once the question has been popped, the marriage proposal accepted and the stunning diamond ring is on the finger, now is the time to think about taking care of the engagement ring.

Diamond rings are an investment. It shows the love and commitment to the relationship. It is an investment that will be a reminder years later, of how much time, energy and love was poured into the marriage. Like a relationship, a diamond ring needs care too. According to Colin Nash of Nash Jewellers in London, Ontario, the first step is to get the diamond ring checked and cleaned every three to six months. In doing so, this is a small part of the insurance that the ring is in tip-top shape. The claws are holding the stone properly, which will prevent the loss of the diamond. The mounting secure and the band is not thinning, which could cause breakage and at worst, loss of the ring itself. If weight loss has occurred and the ring is loose, make sure to have the ring sized, this is one way to guarantee against the loss of a valuable piece of jewellery, not only in monetary value but sentiment too.

The second step according to Colin Nash is to get the ring insured. Again, the investment of months of hard saving for the ring, the purchase and the memories would all be lost if the ring were to go missing or worse, stolen. Break-ins in Canada do happen and the targets besides small appliances and technological items are - jewellery! Jewellery is small and easy to hide on the burglars body and in pockets of clothing.

When the decision has been made to insure the ring, the next step is to have the ring appraised. Get in touch with a Jeweler, who has a Certified Gemologist Appraiser on staff. There are only 14 Certified Gemologist Appraisers in Canada. A Certified Gemologist Appraiser will give an accurate description of the diamonds quality. They will look for stone damage, chips or marks or if claw damage has occurred and will disclose all information to the customer. The piece of jewellery is job-tagged with contact information and cleaned. Once the cleaning is done, they will record the 4 Cs, which are colour, clarity, cut and carat-weight. Measurements are taken and the gold is tested, to record what kind of gold it is, along with the price per carat of the diamond at the time because diamond markets do fluctuate. The Appraiser compiles all this information into a report for the customer. Nash Jewellers also takes a digital photo of the ring up to 10X for a clear and concise image, which they keep on file in their computer system along with a copy for the customers file. This is all done in order to give the insurance company a proper and modern retail replacement value, whether it was lost, stolen or damaged. It also is proof of what the actual piece looks like for insurance and police purposes.

The cost of an appraisal varies from company to company. It could start from $50.00 for the first piece and $40.00 for any additional pieces brought in at the time or could cost more or less.

Most Canadians purchase higher quality diamonds and spends approximately $2500.00 to $3500.00 on an engagement ring, which is a ring with a (0.50) carat diamond to a 1.0-carat depending on wage and financial situation. Insure a ring that is over a thousand dollars. If the ring is less in value, make sure it is listed in the home insurance under Special Items or Personal. Even better, take a digital photo with a optical zoom of the ring and keep this photo and any other information (receipt of purchase) about the engagement ring in a safety deposit box at the bank.

If an appraisal file has been done, call an insurance agent and make sure to insure it for the full amount paid at the time of purchase or the amount appraised. Once insurance on the ring has been put into place, keep all these important papers in a safety deposit box. Any unworn and expensive jewellery would be best kept in the safety deposit box too. Safety deposit boxes are not expensive to keep. They are tax deductible and an investment towards piece of mind, same as the insurance on the ring itself.

The engagement ring is an investment towards a future life together, take care of that investment by following a few simple, precautionary steps towards guaranteeing that the ring will last for years to come and will be passed down to offspring and future generations.

Online Coupons And Deals: How To Find Them

Everyones in the game these days, even Google announced in August that they would be offering online coupons. If anyone has used a search engine to look for coupons or discounts on products they know how daunting a practice it can be. With monthly search queries in the millions, coupons and discounts (and variations on these terms) might some day exceed Paris Hilton in the search rankings. When searching coupons or a similar keyword on Google, Yahoo or any other search engines you quickly discover hundreds of results but perhaps not exactly what youre looking for.

Typically your results fall into these categories of websites: incentive reward programs, printable national brand coupons, local shopping websites, directories/portals and online discount aggregators.

Incentive Reward Programs These sites leverage their affiliate commissions as incentives to consumers. For example if a consumer visits their website they are presented with a 15% discount offer from a leading computer manufacturer, if the consumer clicks on the link and purchases the computer the website is paid a commission of which a portion is credited to the consumer. Many times this is disguised as a member rewards program or points club.

Printable National Brand Coupons These websites compile national brand coupons and offer instant print capabilities once you download their proprietary print software. Most of these websites force the user to register in the process of downloading the print software. The leaders in this category have evolved from traditional direct mailers or large newspaper conglomerates that can source a pool of coupons from national brands found in your Sunday paper.

Local Shopping Websites These websites tend to be very geographic specific in their content and are usually smaller in overall user visits though they usually do a great job of promoting local businesses such as pizza restaurants and specialty shops. Many times local radio and TV station websites work this way adding additional exposure for their advertisers.

Directories/Portals Yes the phone companies are in the game. As a matter of fact the phone companies are probably one of the best suited for this market since the greatest challenge is sourcing the relevant content (coupons). Lucky for them they already have a national advertising sales network that they use to sell advertising in their phone books.

Local & National Savings Aggregators These are the sites that pull all of the above content together under one website with the hopes of making online discount searching an easier and more successful endeavor.

As more and more advertisers embrace the Internet expect to see the extinction of coupons and discount ads as you know them. Perhaps the piles of Yellow Pages on the curb are a telling sign.

'Tis the Season for Electronics: Gifts for Everyone's Budget

The holiday season is upon us, which can only mean one thing: electronics are at the top of everyone's wish list. Even if you can't snag a new PlayStation 3 or Nintendo Wii, there are still many electronics gifts that will delight your recipients. Here are just a few:

Cell Phones: Cell phone technology continues to improve, as do the features available on cell phones. A new cell phone, complete with a high-res camera, video functionality, and wireless adaptability, is certain to be a welcome gift. If that's beyond your budget, opt for any of the number of cool cell phone accessories that are available.

iPods: An Apple iPod makes the perfect gift for anyone who enjoys music or television, even if they're not tech-savvy. Not only can they download tunes, but increasingly, they can download television episodes that they may have missed. Again, if you can't afford an iPod, there are any number of accessories - from earbuds to "socks" that are adorable and affordable.

Home Theaters: This year, why not indulge the whole family with a home theater? Flat screen TVs have come so far down in price that they're more than worth the splurge. While you're at it, get a collection of DVDs that every family member can enjoy!

Car Audio and Video: Entertainment has most definitely moved out of the home and into transportation. High-quality car audio and video equipment make wonderful gifts for family members on the go. Everyone can enjoy the high-quality sound that great car audio produces, while the kids in the family will be entertained on road trips with car DVD players.

Computers: For many people, computers aren't a convenience - they're a necessity. Everyone from adults who bring work home with them to students who have to research school papers (and book some time on one or more of the social networking sites!) will treasure a new computer. Again, prices on electronics have come down so much that either a notebook computer or a desktop PC is affordable.

Games: If you're not able to nab one of the new gaming systems, don't worry about it. There are still great games that are made for the Sony PlayStation 2, the Nintendo GameCube, and the Microsoft Xbox and Xbox 360. Final Fantasy XII, Guitar Hero II, Okami, LEGO Star Wars II, Madden NFL 07, and Viva Pinata, are all highly rated games for a variety of interests and age levels.

The bottom line is that, whatever the gift-giving occasion, you can't go wrong with a gift of personal electronics. Your best bet is to find an online source that has deeply discounted electronics, continually adds new items to their inventory, and provides you with the perfect online shopping experience.

The hanging cosmetic case does not need unpacking as the whole case opens and hangs on the back of the bathroom door on the door hook. It has a removable mirror and great pockets which will hold bottles upright. The duffel is expandable so there's room to bring home "extras." Another very important piece in the Coronado collection is the rolling tote bag or briefcase. This is a smaller carry-on case with wheels that can be used for business or shorter trips.

The entire Coronado collection has a 15-year warranty that states if any pieces become defective it will be repaired or replaced at no charge to the customer. The collection comes in three colors: black, cactus green and sienna brown.

Visiting the Japanese Home

So, you plan to visit a Japanese home? Well, before you do such you must first learn the etiquette in Japanese homes. The Japanese home culture revolves around three values: courtesy, cleanliness, and graciousness. Learning to apply these values whether in the Japanese context or not benefits you not only as you deal with the Japanese - it will allow you better dealings and communications with other people as well.

Courtesy. The first thing you have to do is greet the family. Bowing slightly as you greet them would be the best move, for shaking hands is still an awkward formality in Japan. The lower you bow the more respect you give.

If you could bring a small present, do so, especially a food souvenir called omiyage in Japan to delight your hosts and immediately create a warm atmosphere. It is preferable to bring local culinary specialties from your home town or country.

During conversations, remember to be more subtle than usual with your thoughts and emotions. Compared to people in the Western culture, the Japanese are more reserved during talks. In Japanese discussions there is what they call the honne (real opinion) and the tatemae (public opinion). In most situations it is the tatemae that is expressed to not disturb group harmony or cause any offense. This is why the Japanese are considered bad at public debates. Do avoid interrupting people when they are speaking or are in the middle of thinking. The Japanese dont mind short periods of silence during discussions.

Cleanliness. Leave your shoes outside the door, on the spot where others have left theirs. Wearing shoes inside a Japanese home is considered unclean. If you are not immediately provided slippers, you can wear your socks inside the house. So make sure you are wearing nice and socks without holes! If you are wearing slippers, remember to remove them as you enter a room with tatami mats on the floor, for slippers could damage these mats. There are special slippers especially designated for the toilet area, so remember to take off your slippers when entering such.

As in most Asian countries, it is rude to blow your nose in front of other people. It is especially rude to blow your nose in a handkerchief and then stuff the handkerchief in your pocket afterwards. The Japanese use paper tissue when doing such. Excuse yourself if you feel the urge to do this deed to avoid offending anyone.

Graciousness. During mealtimes, the Japanese will offer you to try everything served on the table. Make sure to amiably try even just a bite of each of the food. Place your chopsticks on a special holder and do not stick them up in your rice. As opposed to Western manners, Japanese slurp noodles. It is actually preferred that bowls or plates be brought up the mouth when slurping rather than bending your head towards it.

Of course the Japanese will know and understand that you are from another culture, but knowing their traditions before you set foot on their door helps your visit to go more smoothly. Most Japanese families that host visitors of other races are spoilers, meaning they want to give you everything you need in all efforts to please. Hence, always remember to be gracious and please them in return.

The Role of Animals of Ancient Egypt

To the ancient Egyptians, animals were created by the gods and given rights equal to that of mankind. They saw animals not as their subjects, but rather as independent beings, and treated them with respect. [A]

The Nile served as a source of food and was the most important factor to the agriculture of the region. Fish were plentiful and could be eaten roasted, boiled, salted, preserved, or simply dried in the sun. Because the Nile would flood annually, it revitalized the land with water and fertile silt, enriching the soil to grow wheat, fruits, and vegetables. Additionally, it provided thick grasses on which animals would graze.

The people of ancient Egypt were mainly pescarian, meaning they would often eat fish. The Nile supplied many types of fish, including: catfish, mullet, tilapia, sturgeon, eel, carp, and perch, which were all an important source of nourishment. Along the Nile, there were restrictions on the types of fish that could be eaten because of their connections with the gods. The Pharaoh and other priests would abstain from eating fish altogether because it was forbidden by one of their deities as a food reserved for peasants.

Bread was their main staple, made from wheat and barley. From time to time, they supplemented their diet with antelope, which they hunted. Occasionally they ate pork and goat, which were raised on farms.

The Egyptians also raised sheep, cattle, geese and ducks. These animals not only provided them with food, drink, leather and skins, but also helped with their daily lives. Oxen and cattle were used for plowing the fields, and other animals were used for trampling seeds into the soil, and eating unwanted grain.

Birds were of extreme importance to the ancient Egyptians as well. Along the Nile, the bird-life included the falcon, kite, goose, crane, heron, pigeon, ibis, vulture and owl. Numerous birds were actually kept in sacred flocks and some were elevated in status to become temple animals. From the vast collection of ancient Egyptian artwork, evidence exists of several species of birds that are now extinct.

Beekeeping began in Egypt around 2500 BC in the Fifth Dynasty. Egyptians loved honey and they would take great pains to cultivate it. They not only kept bees, but they also actively went out and searched for the honey of wild bees. They would use bee wax for embalming, offerings to the gods, medicines, makeup, and as a bonding agent. They named the honeybee after the bull-like god named Apis because they believed it had similar characteristics. (The historian Herodotus described this bull as being black, with a white diamond on its forehead and two white hairs on its tail.)

Horses were introduced much later into Egyptian society around 1500 BC. They were a status symbol for the owners and were mainly used to carry chariots into battle and for ceremonial occasions. Horses were rarely ridden and if so, only by royalty. They were well cared for and given individual names. Donkeys were the main beasts of burden. They were used as pack animals and for carrying heavy bundles of grain from the field to the threshing floor. Female donkeys, which produced higher-protein and sweeter milk than cows, were kept as dairy animals.

Hunting was seen as a symbol of mastery over animal forces. Egyptians believed it was their role to conquer the land. Dogs, resembling greyhounds, would help them while hunting. There is evidence from the tomb paintings that the ancient Egyptians sometimes took along cheetahs they had tamed.

The hunters knew their animals well. They studied their characteristics, including their diet and mating habits. This knowledge brought about a great respect for the animals and aided them in the hunt. Oftentimes, they would hunt great cats, which were not always killed. [C] Smaller jungle mammals and wild cats, such as the cheetah, were often kept as family pets. Ramses the Great is said to have had a pet lion.

Dog, cats, monkeys, and birds were also a part of the nuclear family. So devoted were these ancient people to their pets, that upon the pet's passing, they would often carry out the same rites and rituals as they would for any other family member. Pets and sacred animals were mummified and put in special cemeteries. Animals that belonged to the Pharaoh's royal family were mummified and buried with them so they could continue in the afterlife together. The following inscription for a well-loved dog was found in a tomb dating from the 5th or 6th dynasty:

"The dog which was the guard of His Majesty. Abuwtiyuw is his name. His Majesty ordered that he be buried, that he be given a coffin from the royal treasury, fine linen in great quantity, incense. His Majesty gave perfumed ointment and [ordered] that a tomb be built for him by the gang of masons. His Majesty did this for him in order that he might be honored". [1]

For many years, animal mummies have been overlooked while research went on regarding human mummies and other treasures found in the tombs. The study of this previously neglected area of Egyptology has finally changed, thanks to the work of Dr. Salima Ikram, one of the leading experts in Egyptian funerary archaeology. Dr. Ikram is the founder and co-director of the Animal Mummy Project at the Cairo Museum. This project has shed new light on the past, revealing the techniques of mummification and the reasons for it. Regarding the latter, Dr. Ikram tells us four reasons why animals were mummified.

1. They were mummified because they were sacred.
2. They were mummified to please the animal deities (i.e. as offerings to the gods).
3. The ancient Egyptians believed that the afterlife included animals. Therefore, they wanted their pets to continue with them in the afterlife.
4. A certain number of animals were mummified in order to provide food for eternity.

These ancient tombs are time capsules filled with ancient treasures, many of which we are still deciphering and trying to understand. Some of the tomb findings have been items made of animal products, which were used in many ways. Bone was plentiful and the ancient Egyptians fashioned it into jewelry and arrowheads. Glue was made from animal hide and from sinews. Feathers were used as ornaments. Twisted animal gut and sinews were used in the making of stringed instruments. Ivory usually came from Nile hippos and were used for carving combs and jewelry.

Egyptian burials often included sculpted clay and carved wooden figures, tools, and utensils in hopes they would service the dead in the afterlife. These were often part of a larger diorama or miniature three-dimensional scene. Because so many of these elaborate models have been found in the tombs of the royal families, we've learned a great deal about the customs of these people. For example, there are miniature models of butcher shops, scenes of counting and inspecting cattle, and scenes of plowing the fields. There are wonderfully detailed wall paintings and reliefs decorating the tombs, giving us further information about daily life in Ancient Egypt. It is interesting to note that much of this remained hidden for 4,000 to 5,000 years.

As Robert Fulford has written, "...Because the tombs were hidden so well, many of them remained intact until about 200 years ago, when the modern world began discovering them and prying them open, one after another, in wonderment and excitement and gratitude. And so our own civilization, through the collaboration of grave-robbers, scholars and art lovers, has come to know far more about Egypt than would otherwise be possible". [2]

Can I Get A Warranty On A Second Hand Car?

Just because you buy a car second hand it doesnt mean that you dont have rights. However, what rights you have will all depend on where you purchase the car from.

Knowing what your rights are and what you can do about them can be a problem when it comes to second hand vehicles because the vehicle could have hidden faults or the conditions defined in order for the vehicle to meet satisfactory conditions is lower.

When buying a second hand car from a dealer, many will give you the option to pay for an extended warranty over the standard one year guarantee or something similar such as mechanic breakdown cover. However, while you are paying for peace of mind, it does come at a price.

The most important thing to remember if you do have a problem with a second hand car is to act as soon as the problem is discovered. This is because the outcome depends on the condition the vehicle was sold in and if you had the vehicle some time it could affect your claim.

If you bought the car from a dealer then the car must be fit for the purpose it is sold, in satisfactory condition and must meet the description which was given. Any defects must have been pointed out to the buyer by the dealer before the sale was made. If you have problems then it could be helpful to have the car evaluated by a professional.

If the car was bought at an auction then you might not have any rights under consumer law. If you have problems with a car purchased this way, then seek professional advice from the Citizens Advice.

If you buy the car from a private seller then you do have rights but less than had you bought the car from a dealer. However the vehicle has to be as described, has to have the correct documentation and has to be roadworthy.

Home Schooling And Your Kids

Home Schooling has been garnering more and more interest and support from many parents who are looking for educational alternatives that they can give to their kids. Home schooling is an educational method that makes use of the home as the primary educational base for children. The system involves children being taught or educated at home rather than at an institution such as public or private schools.

In the past, most children are taught their ABC's at home in the absence of adequate schools in some areas. But with the advent of compulsory school attendance in the 19th century, education worldwide is earned through the traditional school approach. In today's terms, home schooling or home education refer to the instruction done in the home with the supervision of government-regulated correspondence schools.

Is home schooling effective? Most people tend to believe so. Many experts think that home schooling can be an effective learning tool because it practices a more personalized form of education. In home schooling, it is usually the parent's responsibility to teach the kids their lesson. And this type of learning environment has helped many children absorb more of what they are being taught.

And the great results have substantiated proof. Some home school statistics show that a number of home school students scored as many as thirty percentile points higher than national public school averages. Some experts don't even see statistical differences in terms of academic achievement between home school students taught by parents with less formal education and those students being taught by parents that have acquired higher formal education.

There are other positive home schooling statistics available that will help prove that such a method of educating children is just as effective. In 2003, the NHERI or National Home Education Research Institute conducted an extensive survey of over 7,300 home-schooled adults in the US with over 5000 of them being part of the survey for over seven years. The findings of the said survey indicated that more home-schooled adults are more active and involved in their respective communities.

Most of them are also more likely to get involved in civic affairs and have higher voting population percentages than their counterparts. In terms of outlook, almost three fourths of home schooled adults feel more positive and find life exciting as compared to less than half for the general population. Half of the home schooled adults report that they are very happy with their lives.

These statistics have shown that home schooling can have a great effect on how a child will learn. Home education can be just as effective and efficient as having your children taught in traditional institutions. Home schooling just carries a big advantage over these educational institutions in the sense that this method can make parents and their kids find time together. If you are looking forward to getting closer with your own kids and more active when it comes to their schooling, then home education for your kids should be considered.

Bad Credit Used Car LoansAdverse Credentials No Hurdle in Owning Car

To buy a new car is often not that easy for every aspiring person because of financial constraints. He therefore settles for a used car but here also he faces one big hurdle as he is labeled bad credit in the loan market, making lenders suspicious in offering loan. Bad credit used car loans can take care of all the worries of such borrowers. The loan can be utilized in buying any type of used car.

Borrowers of Bad credit used car loans need not to worry about their bad credit at all. Lenders do not take pains in doing extensive credit checks while such people intend to buy used cars. This is mainly owing to the fact that any car loan including used car loan is essentially a secured loan. Lender either asks the borrower for giving any property to secure the loan or he can ask for deal papers of used car. The deal papers are returned to the car owner when the loan is finally paid off. Meanwhile the owner can have and enjoy the car.

However despite the security, there are risks present in the loan offer for a lender. If the borrower fails to repay the loan, lender may not get back the entire loaned amount by selling used car, the price of which may have gone down sharply. To cover the risks, lenders charge higher interest rate on bad credit used car loans. But a loan seeker can take the loan at comparatively lower interest rate if he comparers different loan packages as each lender has own rate of interest on the loan.

When the lender approves you the loan, this allows you to buy used car. Take some precautions while buying the car. Used car may have mechanical defects. Repair those defects your self or in case you are not in a position to pay for repairs, better buy a used car with a warranty. There are many buy-here-pay-here car lots. Skip them as they generally have low quality used cars and they will not report the car deal to credit rating agency. Therefore this car deal will not be recorded in your credit report, depriving you an opportunity for improving credit score.

Numbers of lenders have displayed bad credit used car loans on their websites. Search these sites so to get an insight of the loan market and the prevailing interest rate or terms-conditions. Compare interest rates before settling for a lender. Apply to the lender on a online simple format giving required details. Lender will soon convey the loan worthiness and approval in no time after verifying the information about you.

Make sure to pay off the loan installments in time as this will improve credit score and help in avoiding debts. The loan gives you easy access to used car so get the best of opportunity.

Getting To Your First Date

Getting to that first date is what online dating is all about. You may have no trouble at all planning your next steps but for some it's very different. Some singles have chosen the online dating route because the offline approach can be a bit intimidating. But in the end you have to have that offline date, and you have to be ready at some point to bite the bullet.

This is the most exciting part of online dating. Meeting that single offline that you have been getting to know for a short while. You would have been sending each other e-mails chatting on your instant messenger while slowly building a relationship. Once you have started some communication that's the hard part over with. You've already broken the ice so the first date should be just a formality.

You can warm yourself up to it more by having a couple of phone calls first. Getting to the first date isn't a race, you have to pace yourself. See what the relationship is like over the phone. You will tell a lot more about someone when they are actually speaking rather than typing messages. It will confirm that you have the same connection when chatting for real as you had online. See if they like your humor over the phone. It's not the time to get nervous as it will be the same for both of you. You don't need to feel any love coming over the line you just need to feel your getting along well. If the first phone call is very successful then there will be no need for a second one. Let the phone call flow into the first offline date.

When you go on the first date arrange somewhere quiet like a coffee shop. This is just going to be a trial for your second date, when you can go to a nice restaurant. The first date you're still in the getting used to each other stage. You don't want to be doing that over a nice meal. When you're eating a meal you want to feel comfortable so the first date will get the initial bonding out of the way.

Keep the date short as well so you leave them wanting more. Have your questions in your mind before you go. You don't want to run the date into any uncomfortable silences. Even if there's more you would love to know, leave it for the second date. You will open up with each other easier, and your questions will be answered with a more open attitude.

Don't ever get disheartened if your date offline doesn't go to plan. The first single you date will not be the one you end up marrying. Use it a learning experience. It will make the next one a lot easier, and then if that one doesn't work out the next one will be easier still. If they're not a success then they just wasn't meant to be. It won't be anyone's fault. You will just need to get over it, and move on to the next one, which you will look more forward too.
